On March 4, 2011 in the exhibition center "KyivExpoPlaza" there was hold the second scientific –practical Seminar "A new look at old agricultures: chickpeas, lentils, beans." The organizer of the event was a director of "ECOINTER Trade Company. This event brought together heads of agricultural enterprises, agronomists, leading Ukrainian and foreign scientists. The total number of participants exceeded one hundred people on as evidenced by the relevance of the topic of the seminar and the prospects of growing legumes on Ukrainian lands.
Mr.Y. TERNOVOY, Candidate of Agricultural Science, Deputy Director for Science Experiment Station of Skvirsky Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Economics of National Agrarian Academy of Ukraine reported about the features and use of bean cultivation in Ukraine.
Mr. A. Kulinichi, Ph.D. agricultural science, senior researcher at the Institute of Grain Farming of National Agrarian Academy of Ukraine shared with experience of growing other legumes - lentils. Scientist stopped on the history of the cultivation of lentils in Ukraine, noting that the first mention of cultivating legumes was at Kiev Rus period.
Organizers of seminar also invited foreign experts, in particular, leading agronomist of Pinarsan Gida ins. company Mr. Turan Jolla from Turkey shared experience in the use of technology and efficient methods of cultivation of chickpea lentils and beans with the Ukrainian professionals.

"Thr growing legumes in Ukraine has great potential, because they it is not only the most important source of vegetable protein for animal feed and human nutrition, but it is the best precursor for other crops. Big agritechnical importance has chickpeas. In the future, chickpeas will be grown under 1 million hectares in Ukraine is forecasted.
